WWII Part - NOS Pratt & Whitney R-2800 B Series Engine Exhaust Valve p/n 190158

One brand-new radial aircraft sodium filled exhaust valve for the B series Pratt & Whitney R-2800. Unit is still goopy with preservative after 80 years or better in warehouse storage. It'll polish up beautifully for display or re-use.

P/N for this unit from -4 manual is 190158. I don't see any part numbers on the unit anywhere. It's an odd bit of brand-new WWII surplus, to be sure. There's a nice healthy pellet of sodium in the stem there for cooling. Probably best to leave it alone, tho... remembering how we convinved that kid in junior high metal shop to cut one open with the band saw when the instructor was sleeping in his office. And to think, that young fellow actually believed us when we told him that the sodium chunk tasted a lot like Pop Rocks when put in his mouth. The doctors were able to re-attach his jaw but the boy always spoke with something of a speech impediment after that incident. Good old sodium... whizz, fizz, bang.

Inspect and clean as necessary and put back into service. If you're down with OPP (Old Power Plant?) this is a good spare to have on the shelf if there's a B series 2800 in your inventory.

Came from the vast inventory of a Lockheed PV-2 "Harpoon" and Douglas A-26 "Invader" aerial application firm.
